Report from Liberalia 27 April 2006 Prepared by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Farlane and Information Minister Mercuror. s14.invisionfree.com/liberalia liberalian-news-service.blogspot.com Population 191 nations Regional Influence High Regional News> Elections for Prime Minister have been held. Carops, former Prime Minister and founder, has won under the “Moderate Coalition”, formed by the Moderate Party, the Liberal Democrats, the Independence Party, the Socialist Party and the Liberalian Worker’s Party. His opponent, Science and Discovery, ran under the “Right Wing Coalition”, formed by the Capitalist Party and the Republican Party. The election has shown a significant increase of the right-wing’s power in Liberalia. > Northern Sushi has been removed as an admin and has his access to Liberalia’s intel forum removed after he held the government hostage, threatening to release classified information. He has also been censured by the Guardian Council (Liberalia’s judges and a body with Presidential-style powers) and been forbidden from holding office until June. NS has posted anti-Liberalian messages in at least three foreign embassies, including the Liberalian embassy in the ADN, causing embarrassment to the government. > A new recruitment drive has resulted in further population growths in Liberalia. The region yesterday reached 200 nations for the second time in a month. Nations ceasing to exist are proving a problem to population levels with numbers already dropping to 191. Recent Legislation> The Constitution has just gone up for a vote in Parliament. Voting has been extended to five days for the Constitution. People against the Constitution claim that it gives the Speaker too many powers and that it is unnecessary for Liberalia, which has the “Preservation of Democracy Bill” to safeguard it’s systems. > The Mayoral Bill, which had previously slipped through cracks and had been forgotten about, has been passed. Bahía Esmerelda, Liberalia’s capital city, now will have a Mayor. Mayoral elections have yet to be scheduled > A bill which could see the voting system moved to a specialised, external, voting site has come before Parliament. It is currently being debated.
