The Mokshan diploamtic core is currently in negotiation for the opening of an embassy in another region. One of the nations in that region is interested in finding partners for a terraforming project, and since this would involve matters of outer space I thought that the UFP would be the people to speak with about it.
The nation in question wants to terraform a small, uninhabitable planet in order to turn it into a marijuana plantation. The Mokshan nations that would be assisting in the project are XRay Eyes (who have been working on terraforming technology, as I've mentioned) and Yondertwaddle (who would be carrying the necessary payloads).
Before we move forward with this project, however, I wanted to be sure that this wouldn't violate any of the UFP's laws about the use of extraterrestrial resources. Additionally, I thought that if the Federation was interested, it might be a good opportunity to establish a relationship with another large and active region by getting involved with the project yourselves.
Please advise on any and all counts. Thanks.

well some of our members may have some qualms about assisting in the creation of a grow op.

well some of our members may have some qualms about assisting in the creation of a grow op. If they do, they should speak up! But more importantly, does the UFP itself have any policy about this? I'm sure that there will always be someone who objects to just about anything if you put 90+ people in a room and ask them a question, but I want to be sure that it's not a problem for the Federation as a whole.

Terraforming is always a very expensive endeavor - is marijuana an appropriate application? I'm not sure if investors would be in full support given the end objective...

You may well be right, but that's not necessarily the point for us. This will be an opportunity to test XRay Eyes' technology as well as Grotesqueri's spaceships (Yondertwaddle declined the project). Whether or not it turns a profit is really the concern of the country that originated the project. It doesn't sound like this is a big concern for the UFP overall, so we'll move ahead with the project. Next stop, Deimos!

Well, I wish you and your region luck in this endeavor.
I'm sure the UFP would be interested to remain updated as to your progress.

Well, I wish you and your region luck in this endeavor. I'm sure the UFP would be interested to remain updated as to your progress. We'll keep you updated right here. As it stands, the Tibetan Hashgrowers of The Stronghold may very well have backed out of the deal after realizing the cost involved. Even so, the project will move ahead (though probably not to grow marijuana, just to set up a colony on Deimos). Either way, I'm sure that UFP members will always be welcome on Deimos.
